Architecture in Noida
There are three kinds of buildings I've noticed in Noida...
There's the well-designed bungalow that clearly reflects the owner's tastes and style. They don't necessarily please every taste but at least each has a unique look about it.
Then there's the ubiquitous SAD (standard architecture of delhi) bungalow. These buildings have no character and no aesthetics. They're ugly blocks painted in every shade of vomit you can imagine. They are so drab the paint peeling off their walls is the only thing that MAY differentiate them. I suppose being in the national capital region requires that at least some of Noida's buildings look SAD.
Finally there's this strange hybrid creature that can only best be described as a mash up between SAD and greek. For some reason, the owner thought he'd add some individuality to his SAD bungalow. Unfortunately, it seems he ran out of money before the work could be completed. As a result, the only individuality one sees are these awful spindle-like greek columns on doorways, which just stand there looking totally out of place. Sadly some five thousand other home owners had the same idea.. How do I make my home look nice and grand? I know, I'll add greek columns to it!
The end result of all this mixed architecture is that Noida looks like some a cross between defence colony, and a dda flat that then got smashed together with bit of ancient greece. Horrific.
