Bats in the Belfry

22 April 2009

Why aren't real issues the issue in this elections?

Whatever happened to water or electricity or good roads or bad air? Why do I have to vote over artificial divisions such as religion or hate speeches?

Perhaps because it's easier for politicians to campaign about how the other guys have screwed up. I have yet to see someone (other than the independents) stick their neck out over new ideas that rock the boat. I have yet to see someone talk about governance - and only governance. Frankly, if this group of politicians want my vote, they're going to have to do more to convince me.

I really don't care about which party you're sharing seats with. I want to know if I will have more buses on the roads so I can use public transport without having my toes stepped on. And I want to know when it will happen. I don't care why you've split away from your alliance. I want to know what you're going to do after the split. Rhetoric is boring. I want specifics... details... timelines... names of who is accountable... Give me that. I'll give you my vote.
